Walk 1 Exeter Cathedral to Ship Canal (2.3 miles)
Difficulty:
Many visitors to Exeter may find it difficult to find it's Quay as it is rather off the beaten track!
This very pleasant walk will guide you to the Quay and ship canal , via the famous St Mary Steps which used to be the only direct link from the city to its West Gate.
The route includes 2 suspension bridges, a lock and a boatyard.
You are guaranteed to see swans.

Walk 2 via the Double Locks pub (2.9 miles)
Difficulty:
This most popular (pub) walk takes you through a very old part of Exeter , past the ruins of what was once a thriving paper mill.
You return via the famous Double Locks pub and a canal often busy with rowers.

Walk 3 Exminster Marshes (3.2 miles)
Difficulty:
This walk can also lead you to the Turf pub but add another 3 miles, ie 2 x 1.5 - see below.
It takes you along the canal out of Exeter through 'Old Sludge Beds' nature reserve into part of Exminster Marshes.
Along the route you may find swans, herons and other wild life.
Part of the track can be muddy.
There is a further option of taking the ferry into Topsham but check time table (07801 203338).

Add an extra 3 miles (i.e., 2 x 1.5) if you'd like to stop for a drink at the Turf. Just continue along the canal, keeping it on your left — the alternative path can become overgrown.
