Walk 1 Otter River and Moorland (7.5 miles)
Difficulty:
This delightful walk initially follows the river Otter and passes an impressive weir & trout ladder ;it then turns towards Colaton Raleigh with its famous cob wall and crosses part of the old Budleigh to Newton Poppleford railway line . It then climbs steadily until the edge of Colaton Raleigh Common .The views are stunning.
You return skirting Bicton Park and the ruins of an old Bicton Church - '...a small ancient structure, situated in a romantic spot, encircled by a beautiful screen of woods, in the lower part of the park, but it will be taken down after the completion of the handsome new church, now (1849) erecting near it by Lady Rolle. . . '
