Walk 3 Okehampton to Belstone (6.7 miles)

Difficulty

This splendid & quite strenuous pub walk takes you along the mysterious Irishman's Wall to the top of Belstone Tor,offering breathtaking views of Dartmoor .

The Irishman's Wall is a kilometre long wall erected in the 18th Century by various Irishmen to claim land based on an ancient law. It was demolished by angry local villagers almost as soon as it was built.

Belstone was much loved by the poet Ted Hughes - his memorial stones lies 4 miles south of the village along the Taw.
