| Local Walk | to Hele |

The Domesday Book informs us that Bradninch was the largest in area of forty-six manors in Devon.
Many of the farms surrounding the town are currently owned by the Duchy and let to tenants.
The town has been plagued by major fires in the 17th and 19th century.

Walk 2 to Hele (3.6 miles)
Difficulty:

Do not attempt this walk without wellingtons EVEN in summer as unfortunately you have to wade through a small muddy and boggy stretch near a farm ( see map ) .
However, the walk truly captures hidden Devon in all its tranquil splendour and follows public footpaths and quiet lanes.
