Pinhoe to Clyst Honiton Walk |
Much of the historic green belt around Pinhoe is sadly disappearing fast!
Make sure you do this walk before access has been restricted!

This popular (updated 2025) route includes Gent's farm shop, the river Clyst, the ruins of a mill, a Roman Road and the 'Blue Bridge'.
Country lane names like Mill Lane, Tithebarn, Mosshayne, Langaton, Blackhorse hint at a fascinating past threatened by modern development.
The mill must have been very important as many lanes appear to head towards its current position.
Roman coins have been found in the area and it is said that Blackhorse lane dates back to pre roman times.
Unfortunately, much of the present countryside has been earmarked for future development.
River Walk
This delightful walk takes you through Mosshayne (an old farm) , along the Clyst , past the ruins of a mill returning via Clyst Honiton , Tithebarn lane and Monkerton.
The (updated) Walk
A Start from the Station. Cross Railway lines and turn right into Causey Lane. After a while turn left into Orchard Close. At T junction turn right into a new estate. Follow Coaker Road for 400m then turn right into Tuckwell Grove. The gpx route differs in this area and is more varied.
B Continue along Brincombe Meadow then onto a path crossing a small stream. Bear left and at the end of the path turn right onto a lane.
C Small Farm shop at Gent's Farm with honesty box.
D At a new construction site turn left onto a track designated as a public footpath.
At the end just before the hedge turn right onto a public footpath - do not carry on towards the river.
Continue past an old mill and follow the river into Clyst Honiton then turn right and continue along a new cyclepath along the old A30
E After crossing the bridge turn right into Blackhorse Lane, a road possibly Pre-Roman.
Continue for a short time then just after a lane joining you take a footpath and continue parallel to Blackhorse Lane, rejoining it at the end.
F After crossing the Blue Bridge turn right past the Gypsy Hotel.
