Difficulty:

You can either start from Manaton at the carpark near the church (£1. donation) or (free) from Lustleigh, where parking near the church can be limited.

Ignore the diversion to Water if you do not want to visit the Kestor Inn.

The walk passes Hunter's Tor and the remains of an Iron Age hillfort where recently Roman coins were found.

up through a farm to the wild glen, above which the ridge bristles with crags, boulders, and rocky pile Two logan-stones here are known as the Nutcrackers, by which a path runs on to Horsham Steps, where the stream almost vanishes among masses of granite.'

	Walk 2 Bovey Valley (3.8 miles)

Difficulty:

It follows part of the Dartmoor Way and takes in the Kestor at Water, a cosy & friendly pub serving good hearty food. There is a short but at times busy stretch along a lane to the pub.

After heavy rain some stretches can become wet and uneven.

The walk includes a steady climb and descent.
