Walk 1 Grand Western Canal (2.8 miles)
A short and easy walk along the Grand Western Canal, built around 1812 ; you will find swans and cygnets, mallards, coots, moorhens and possibly a kingfisher; in early summer, the banks are ablaze with yellow irises.
Difficulty:
It descends gently into Halberton (Alberts farm) and as you join High Street the village pub, the Barge, is on your left, a three minute diversion.
The route crosses a Roman road linking Willand to Tiverton & takes you past the old village pond which apparently never freezes to the church with its 14th-century nave and its famous rood-screen, pulpit and Norman font.
Walk 2 Swan's Neck (2 miles)
Difficulty:
From the free Car Park , cross the bridge and follow the green signs for the recently altered Swan's Neck Walk. This pleasant walk does not go into Halberton but does pass Halberton Court Farm Shop and Tea Room.
