Best Broadhembury Walks |
Its church, recognizable by its tall tower, dates back to the 14th century.
The village was bought In 1903 by Julius Drew who is generally more famous for building castle Drogo.

This most enjoyable walk takes you past the Devon & Somerset Gliding club - refreshments are available, when open.
A leaflet showing other walks from this village can be obtained from the post office.
A From the village head east keeping the memorial cross on your right. Continue up hill following signs for Dunkeswell & Sheldon.
Ignore any lanes on your left .

B At the sign post marked Lane End continue up hill into the woods towards Sheldon.
The climb is steadily becoming steeper.
C At the end of the wood, at the top take bridleway on left which skirts the wood.
DContinue until you reach an open area and carry on more or less at the same level with Hanger Farm below on your left.
At the gate do not take a track but follow the bridleway on your right keeping the woods on your left.
Follow this all the way to a lane called Golden Lane .
Turn left then take the first lane on your left towards the Gliding club.
E Turn left . Follow bridle way past the club keeping along the edge of the wood on left. After 640m (0.4 miles) take a bridle path on your left and descend back towards the village.
F After another 640 take a public footpath on your left and descend across fields.
Take care not to miss this turning!
At the lane turn right and continue into the outskirts of the village. Turn left at the bridge.
