Walk 1 To Holcombe (4.7 miles)

Difficulty:

Skirting the Railway Line

A delightful circular (pub) walk that takes you to Holcombe via a paved path along the coast and railway line.

Where to Eat?
Castle Inn, Holcombe

During stormy weather take extra care.

Holcombe has one pub , the Castle Inn.

The coast along the Teignmouth Promenade is well known for its hazardous waters, treasures and smuggling. Time Team have explored an ancient ship that was wrecked some 400 years ago off Teignmouth beach.

The Walk

AFrom East Cliff Park , head towards the far end beyond some parking meters and join a path.
Turn Right onto a lane spanning the railway lines.
At the Coastwatch Lookout Station, turn Right asif going back to town.
When joining a road, turn Left and head towards a path on the seafront.
Turn Left and follow paved path with railway line on left and sea on your right.

BWhen path joins a road, continue uphill.

CAt Holcombe Cross where you meet the A379 , cross over with care into Hall Lane – this is a busy road!
At a cross road, turn Right into Holcombe Road passing a church and the Castle Inn - a possible stop-off - on your right.
Continue along this road.

D Turn Left into Sweetbrier Lane.
At T junction, turn Left then take public footpath on your Right.
At the top of the hill , turn Left onto a track.
The track joins a lane (Oak Hill Cross),
Continue following lane until you come to the A379.
Turn Right and after 30m cross over into Cliff Road.

E Were this lane forks (take the Right fork (East Cliff Walk).
Continue along a path with residential on your right.

FWhere the path meets a lane, turn Right and enter Mules Park.
Where path reaches wooded area, either follow right fork or take left fork and then left again across small bridges and along some pools.
Where path meets up with the East Cliff Walk, turn Right and continue back to car park.

Walk 3 picturesque Shaldon (2.5 miles)

Difficulty:

Shaldon to Teignmouth Ferry

An ideal summer's walk using the ferry to picturesque Shaldon, with its numerous pubs and cafes and returning via bridge and footpaths along the Teign .

Check internet for ferrytimes.

You could do this without the ferry and do a loop in Shaldon.
