Walk 1
Walk 1 (3.4 miles) | Time:1h 30 mins |
A This very dramatic, pleasant and fairly easy walk starts at the Car Park; it follows a small track on left of the Bovey Tracey road to a turn off into the village of Haytor Vale. B Follow signs to the Rock. C About 100m before the pub the walk bears left into a bridlepath.D After a while you join the Templer Way towards Haytor.and a old tramway to the quarry. Along here stones were transported to build the arches of London Bridge and the steps to the British Museum. E You almost seem to be heading towards a forgotten settlement surrounding the majestic Tor. F The quarry resembles a nature reserve with water lilies gracing its pools. G From here the climb to Haytor (454 m) is steady crossing a most dramatic landscape with spectacular views all around. There is one steep descent. (donation) Car Park next to Information Centre |
