Broadclyst - named Clist or Cliston in ancient times - was burnt by the Danes in 1001.
It's church was built in the 14th century and restored in 1864.
The village enjoys two pubs, the Red Lion and the New Inn, both can be visited en route.
In the distance you can see an old windmill, built in 1786 by Samuel Flood.
In 1870, after most of Broadclyst was destroyed by a fire it was converted to house homeless villagers.
All sails were removed!
