The Walk

A Walk past the school towards Marsh; continue past the Village Hall keeping it on your right.

B As you leave Rockbeare take a permissive path on right . Once in the woods take right path & continue heading south.

C Turn Left at lane and continue for about half a while.

D Where the road starts to bend between 2 cottages , take track on left then soon turn right and follow permissive path.

E At the end turn left onto a hardened footpath past the noisy A30. Follow this path which joins a lane. Continue along the lane past Rockbeare House

One of the original Axminster carpets used to be kept in Rockbeare House, dating back to the late 18th century.

At the T junction, turn left and continue along lane.

F At the white gates entrance to Rockbeare House turn left onto a path which runs through a small wood along the lane.

You get a good view of any planes taking off from Runway 08 as you start the walk. There is a stretch through a wooded area which can be muddy after heavy rain - you can take a country lane parallel to the path.

In spring the hedges are full of wild flowers.
