Broadclyst - named Clist or Cliston in ancient times - was burnt by the Danes in 1001.
It's church was built in the 14th century and restored in 1864.

Difficulty:
A delightful and very popular walk to Killerton House , cafe and gift shop following mainly public footpaths and quiet lanes.
Allow at least 2 hours for the journey.

This is a short and easy walk.via the New Inn and includes 2 stiles.
In the distance you can see an old windmill, built in 1786 by Samuel Flood.
In 1870, after most of Broadclyst was destroyed by a fire it was converted to house homeless villagers.
All sails were removed!

It avoids the road past Clyst Vale Community College which at times can be quite busy.
