This is the popular daffodil walk along the river Teign.

Difficulty:

Park near Steps Bridge or Car Park; then follow the bridle path to Clifford Cross.

This is basically a linear walk though there are three opportunities to veer off the main bridle path - see information boards - where most of the wild daffodils can be seen.

This walk crosses the famous Steps Bridge passing Dunsford nature reserve well known for its carpets of wild daffodils.

Difficulty:

When you join the main road to Moretonhampstead, you will notice a footpath, on the other side, leading to the river Teign.

The only way across is via some dodgy stepping stones. If you think it's safe, take this and follow the path, west, along the river.

The route climbs, at times steeply , towards the somewhat remote village of Bridford with its 16th century Church and 17th Century village pub.


The walk then returns along the fast flowing river Teign.

Pub   in Bridford: Bridford Inn .

The pub has recently been reopened BUT check the internet for possible closure.

PLEASE NOTE:This walk is now impossible due to an access issue - a short path from the car park into Cod Wood is in private hands and permission has been withdrawn

ALL OTHER DUNSFORD WALKS USE FOOTPATHS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

(Park in Car Park just across Steps Bridge coming from Exeter.

Difficulty:

This very pleasant and peaceful walk along the Teign takes you through St Thomas Cleave Wood and Cod Wood to Clifford Bridge;the steep wooded slopes are home to buzzards, woodpeckers and pied flycatchers. It then returns on the other side of the river - through Dunsford Wood famous for its wild daffodils , blue bells and rare butterflies.There is one steady climb. Take special care:There is a short stretch along the main road (2 minutes) )
