| This revised walk takes you through the rolling countryside skirting Sowton Village into Clyst Honiton ; it then follows the river Clyst meandering through peaceful meadows. The names of lanes in the area reflect Exeter's fascinating rural past: Tithebarn , Mosshayne ,Mill and Blackhorse. Blackhorse Lane dates back to the Romans who used it as a minor road to where the main Exeter to Honiton highway crosses the Clyst.Remnants of the old mill on the Clyst are still visible. The views are quite spectacular. During WWII there was as POW camp near Dymond's farm. | |||
