 This trail includes the Barbican, the Plymouth Gin distillery, the Mayflower Steps, the Elizabethan House and Smeaton's Tower.

How to use a GPX / FIT file

A From the city centre fountain turn East into New George Street. At the end , bear right .

Cross Royal Parade keeping roundabout on left .Continue South .

Merchant's House

B At the Kitty O'Harlons pub turn right to the Merchants house. Retrace steps and continue past the pub. Turn right into a foot path then turn left into Palace Street. Take the next street right (Buckwell Street).

C Turn left into Vauxhall Street and take the crossing the turn right and left into Southside Street full of interesting shops and restaurants.

Notice the Plymouth Gin Distillery on right.

D This leads to the harbour and the Barbican.

It's worth taking some time to explore the area.

E To the right of the Admiral Mcbriide pub climb some steps to the Barbican Theatre then turn right towards the Elizabethan House, a 17th century merchant's house, currently restored and not open to the public.

F Continue until some steps opposite Friar's Lane. Climb steps; at the top turn right; at the junction turn lefty onto Lambhay Hill. then almost immediately up some steps. Cross Hoe Road and onto the park.

Once in the park turn left and continue towards the sea.

G Smeaton's tower standing roughly where Drake allegedly played bowls watching the Armada sail past.

From here return to the City Centre via the War Memorial.
