Enjoy a short moorland walk with great views and allow an hour.

The Walk

A From the car park entrance turn right into Ramsley Lane and head towards Dartmoor.

B After the bridge the road joins a lane. Do not join the lane but take the drive next to the lane following the direction indicated by a foot path sign.

Continue along this pleasant track until the end.

CAt he back of some houses follow the sign right up hill . This stretch can be tricky and narrow due to it becoming rocky.

Go through a gate but take care as there is a considerable drop between two slabs.

The path is well defined and follows along some newly constructed duckboards.

D Go through a gate then at the end turn right and almost immediately right again . Follow the footpath sign.

Continue all the way back to the main road. Cross over into a small lane. Go past 'The Croft on left

E 23m (87ft) before you cross a bridge there is an entrance to one of the Burgage plots on left. These plots date back to the middle ages and can be found North and South of the village.

Open gate(door) to follow a permissive path back to the village.

FTurn right then almost immediately right again into a small alley to take you back to the car park.

Difficulty:

This is a very popular but taxing walk ; in places it can be quite boggy.

The route is quite strenuous not because of the climbs or the somewhat steep descents but more because drainage on long stretches of some bridlepaths is poor.

We do not recommend this walk to anyone with knee problems!

It requires stamina and a sunny day but the efforts are most rewarding!
