Bideford (originally 'By the ford') marks the lowest place to cross the river Torridge. It is famous for it's long bridge and the place where Kingsley Amis wrote most of his 'Westward Ho!' .

B The Quay ; Sir Richard Grenville played a major role in the transformation of Bideford from a small fishing port into a significant trading port with the new American colonies, later specializing in tobacco importation .

H Buttgarden St where tobacco used to be stored.

I Pannier Market, dating back to late 16th century.

N Rope Walk. Here rope was manufactured.
