Walk 2 Broadclyst Moor (3.3 miles)

Difficulty:

Broadclyst Church and NT marker
National Trust marker with church in the distance

This short and easy walk captures an almost feudal landscape around Broadclyst.

It follows permissive National Trust conservation paths (look out for green arrows on white) through Broadclyst Moor & the valley of the Clyst.

During the winter some stretches can be muddy.

At times, Exmoor ponies and Devon Rubies can be seen grazing in the distance.

You can also make a small diversion to Clyston Mill, a water powered corn mill, where corn is still ground - check for opening days.

The Walk

A Walk past the Red Lion's Car Park on your right and continue behind the pub until you join a public footpath which eventually crosses the Clyst & joins a cyclepath. Turn right towards Killerton.

B Near the red farm building turn right onto a track. At the end turn left into a lane , go past a typical Devon cottage and take the next turning left.

C At the end of the lane near some buildings turn right . After 240 meters turn left through a gate and onto a permissive track - ignore public Footpath on your right.

Continue through some gates and with woods on your right until you reach a field.

D Cross the field in the same direction as you came and turn left just before a fence. Continue with fence on your right .

Soon you will see Broadclyst church in the distance.

Follow the National Trust arrows towards the church.

E There are a few more gates to negotiate until you join a cyclepath. Turn right , cross the Clyst and on your left appearing through an orchard you will see Broadclyst Mill.
